Adding and subtracting days
Counting a number of days forward or back from a date is the everyday arithmetic behind return windows, payment terms and countdowns — but month lengths and leap years make it awkward to do in your head. This tool steps through the real calendar, so adding 45 days to a late-January date correctly crosses February whatever its length. It also names the weekday of the result, which is often the whole point: you want to know whether a deadline lands on a weekend. - How do I add days to a date?
- Choose a starting date, type how many days to add, and this tool shows the resulting date and the weekday it falls on. For example, 90 days from today (2026-08-02) is Saturday, 31 October 2026.
- Can I subtract days too?
- Yes. Enter a negative number, or switch the direction to "before", to count backwards. Subtracting 30 days from a date tells you the day one month of days earlier.
- Does it roll over months and years correctly?
- Yes. Adding days steps through the real calendar, so it rolls across month ends, year ends and leap days automatically. Adding 1 day to 31 December gives 1 January of the next year.
- What is this useful for?
